What Are Cigar Futures?
En primero or "cigar futures", is a method of purchasing cigars early while the cigar has been rolled but is still being held in the “aging room” by the maker. This offers the customer the opportunity to invest in limited release cigars that are typically aged for 1-5 years before their official release on the market. Payment is made at an early stage, 6 months or 18 months prior to the official release of the cigar on the market. An advantage of buying en primero is the opportunity to secure rare and premium cigars that otherwise are difficult to acquire once released along with producers potentially offering a slight discount for early allocations.

Cigars Are Rolled & Aged
The manufacturer selects the finest leaves and blends them to create an ultra-rare, premium cigar. Once rolled, the cigars are carefully stored and left to age in controlled conditions for two years prior to public release. During this period, the tobacco begins to “marry”—allowing flavors to integrate and distribute evenly throughout.

Cigars Are Released & Shipped
Once the cigars have been sufficiently aged in year two, they are then prepared for release. En Primero takes great care in curating each shipment for our clients by coordinating with producers, tailoring packaging and delivering to your local cigar store for final payment and pick-up.
